How to Cancel Hulu in 2026 Without Getting Charged Again
To cancel Hulu, go to secure.hulu.com/account, open the Account page from your profile menu, scroll to Your Subscription, and click Cancel Your Subscription, then Continue to Cancel past the pause and downgrade offers. Cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged again. You keep access until the end of the current billing cycle.
Short answer: Cancel on Hulu's website at Account > Your Subscription > Cancel, and do it before your renewal date. If you got Hulu through the Disney Bundle, Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, Spotify, or a phone carrier, you have to cancel through that provider instead, not on Hulu.
Last updated: June 2026. Karen is not affiliated with Hulu, Disney, Apple, Google, or any company named here. Verify current terms on Hulu's own site, because terms change.
The deadline that bites: Hulu does not refund partial months. If you cancel one day after your renewal hits, you pay for the whole next month and just keep access to the end of it. Cancel at least a day or two before your billing date, which you can see on your Account page under Your Subscription.
How do you cancel Hulu on the website?
If Hulu bills you directly (you pay Hulu, not Apple or a bundle), this is the fastest way. Use a computer or a phone browser. You cannot fully cancel from inside the Hulu TV app.
- Go to secure.hulu.com/account and log in. You can also click your profile icon or name in the top right and select Account.
- Scroll to the Your Subscription section.
- Click Cancel Your Subscription (it may appear as a Cancel link under your plan).
- Hulu shows retention offers first, like pausing your subscription or switching to a cheaper plan. To fully cancel, skip these and click Continue to Cancel. You may have to click through twice.
- Finish the on-screen steps until you see a confirmation. Your Account page should then say "Your subscription is about to cancel" and show the date access ends.
Screenshot that confirmation and the cancel date. It is the single most useful thing to have if Hulu charges you again by mistake.
Do you keep access to Hulu after you cancel?
Yes. When you cancel a paid plan, you keep watching until the end of the current billing cycle, then it stops. You are not charged again after that. The one exception is a free trial: canceling during a trial usually ends access right away. If you change your mind, you can reactivate from the same Account page before your billing date, and many people do exactly that to dodge an accidental renewal.
How do you cancel Hulu if you signed up through a third party?
This is where most people get charged after they "cancel." If a third party bills you, Hulu cannot cancel it. You have to cancel through whoever takes the payment. Check your Account page under Payment Information. It usually names the biller (Disney, Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, Spotify, or a carrier).
| How you signed up | Where to cancel |
|---|---|
| Directly with Hulu | secure.hulu.com/account > Your Subscription > Cancel |
| Disney Bundle (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+) | Your Disney+ account. Hulu cannot be cancelled separately from the bundle. |
| Apple (iTunes / App Store) | iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Hulu > Cancel Subscription |
| Google Play (Android) | Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Hulu > Cancel |
| Roku | Your Roku account, under the subscription or Manage Subscription menu |
| Amazon (Prime Video Channel) | Amazon account > Memberships & Subscriptions, or Prime Video Channels |
| Spotify (student bundle) | Your Spotify account settings |
| Phone carrier (T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.) | Your carrier account, under add-ons, perks, or entertainment |
If you are paying two bills, one to Hulu and one to a bundle, you may be double-paying. Check both the Disney+ and Hulu account pages and cancel the duplicate.
How do you cancel Hulu before you get charged again?
The trick is timing, not just the cancel button.
- Find your billing date. On the Hulu Account page, the Your Subscription section shows when your next payment is due.
- Cancel a day or two early. Hulu does not prorate or refund a partial month, so canceling the morning after renewal still costs you the full month.
- Cancel at the right place. Direct billing on Hulu, third-party billing through that provider. Canceling on the wrong one does nothing.
- Get the confirmation. Wait for "Your subscription is about to cancel" plus the end date, and screenshot it. If a third party billed you, save their cancellation confirmation too.
- Check the next statement. If a charge lands after your cancel date, you have a clean billing-error case.
What if Hulu charges you after you cancelled?
It happens, usually because the cancellation did not finish or the wrong biller was cancelled. Move in this order:
- Confirm where the charge came from. Check the statement description. If it says Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, or your carrier, the fix is on their side, not Hulu's.
- Ask for a refund in writing. Contact Hulu (or the third-party biller) and say you cancelled before the renewal date. Attach your screenshot. Keep it short and dated.
- Dispute the charge with your card. If they stall, contact your credit or debit card issuer and dispute it as a billing error. Here is how to dispute a credit card charge step by step.
- Escalate. If a company is blocking cancellation, you can file a complaint with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
Illustrative example: Hulu renews at $18.99 the day after you thought you cancelled, your screenshot shows the earlier cancel date, and your card issuer reverses the charge. Illustrative example. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
What are your rights when a subscription charges you anyway?
- Credit card billing errors: dispute in writing within 60 days. Under the federal Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute a billing error in writing within 60 days of the statement that shows it. The issuer must acknowledge your dispute, usually within 30 days, and resolve it, generally within two billing cycles.
- Chargebacks. Your card network may let you request a chargeback for a charge after a cancellation. Want the difference? Here is chargeback vs refund explained.
- Auto-renew rules are in flux in 2026. The FTC's "click to cancel" rule was vacated by a federal appeals court in July 2025, and the FTC restarted rulemaking on negative-option plans in 2026. Many states still have their own auto-renewal laws requiring clear disclosure and an easy way to cancel. Verify current terms on Hulu's site.

Common questions
How do I cancel my Hulu subscription?
Go to secure.hulu.com/account, open Account from your profile menu, scroll to Your Subscription, click Cancel Your Subscription, then Continue to Cancel past the offers. If a third party bills you, cancel through them instead.
Will I still get charged if I cancel Hulu?
Not if you cancel before your next billing date. Hulu does not refund partial months, so cancel a day or two early. You keep access until the current billing cycle ends.
Why can't I cancel Hulu from the app?
The Hulu TV app is view-only for billing, and if a third party like Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, the Disney Bundle, Spotify, or a carrier bills you, Hulu cannot cancel it. You cancel through that provider's subscription settings.
How do I cancel Hulu if I have the Disney Bundle?
You cannot cancel Hulu separately from the Disney Bundle. Cancel the whole bundle through your Disney+ account. If you also pay a separate Hulu bill, you may be double-paying and should cancel the duplicate.
Hulu charged me after I cancelled. Can I get my money back?
Often, yes. Confirm which biller charged you, ask them for a refund in writing with your cancellation screenshot, and if they refuse and you used a card, dispute the billing error within 60 days of the statement.
Can I pause Hulu instead of cancelling?
Hulu-billed subscribers can usually pause for up to 12 weeks instead of cancelling. You will see the pause option on the cancellation screens before you reach Continue to Cancel.
