How to Cancel Sling TV in 2026
To cancel Sling TV, sign in at sling.com on a browser, click your name in the top right, open Account, and find the Cancel Subscription link under your plan. It is small text, not a big button. You keep watching until the end of your current billing period, then it stops. Sling does not refund partial months.
Short answer: Cancel on the Sling website at Account > your subscription > Cancel Subscription. Sling will try to hand you a Pause option first, so keep clicking Cancel until you see a confirmation that your plan will not renew. If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, Roku, or Amazon, you have to cancel through that store instead.

The thing that bites: Sling does not refund or prorate partial months. If you renew and cancel the next day, you pay for the whole month and just keep access to the end of it. There is no money back for unused time. So cancel before your billing date, which shows on your Account page. Cancelling does not cut you off early.
How do you cancel Sling TV on the website?
If Sling bills you directly (you pay Sling, not an app store), this is the way to end it. Use a phone or computer browser. You cannot fully cancel from inside a smart TV app, and the cancel link is not where you would expect.
- Go to sling.com and sign in with the email and password on your account.
- Click your name or profile icon in the top right, then choose Account (sometimes shown as My Account).
- Find your current plan under Your Subscription. The Cancel Subscription link is small text near your plan or billing details, not a large button. Look carefully.
- Sling will usually offer to Pause your subscription instead. That is retention friction, not a cancellation. If you actually want out, skip the pause and keep going.
- Pick a reason if asked, then click through to the final confirmation screen that says your subscription will not renew.
- Check your Sling dashboard for a "subscription has been canceled" notice, and wait for the confirmation email. If you do not see both, the cancellation did not go through.
That dashboard notice and email are the single most useful thing to keep. If Sling charges you again by mistake, that is your evidence.
What is the Pause option, and should you use it?
Sling offers a Pause instead of a full cancel. You pick how long, usually one to three months, and the pause takes effect on your renewal date. It stops billing for that stretch and then can resume and charge you again on its own once the pause ends. If you plan to come back soon, a pause can make sense. If you are done, do not stop at Pause. Click all the way through Cancel Subscription, or Sling can start charging you again when the pause runs out.
Do you keep access to Sling after you cancel?
Yes. When you cancel a paid plan, your access stays active until the end of your current billing cycle, then it closes automatically. You are not charged again after that. Heads up on your Cloud DVR: recordings tied to your account can be deleted once the membership expires, so save anything you want to keep before the period ends.
How do you cancel Sling TV if a third party bills you?
This is where most "I cancelled but got charged" stories come from. If you signed up through an app store or device maker, that company takes the payment, and Sling cannot cancel it for you. You have to cancel where the billing lives. Check your card statement: if it reads Apple, Google, Roku, or Amazon instead of Sling, that is your tell.
| How you signed up | Where to cancel |
|---|---|
| Directly with Sling | sling.com > name > Account > Cancel Subscription |
| Apple (App Store / iTunes) | iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Sling > Cancel Subscription |
| Google Play (Android) | Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Sling > Cancel |
| Roku | Your Roku account, under Manage Subscriptions |
| Amazon (Appstore / Channels) | Your Amazon account, under Memberships & Subscriptions |
If your Sling Account page does not give you a cancel link at all, that is the sign a payment partner is in charge. Cancelling on Sling does nothing in that case. Cancel with the store that bills you.
How do you cancel Sling TV before it charges you again?
The win is timing, not just finding the link.
- Find your billing date. Your Account page shows when your next payment is due.
- Cancel before that date. Sling does not prorate or refund a partial month, so cancelling the morning after renewal still costs you the full month.
- Cancel in the right place. Direct billing on sling.com, third-party billing through that store. The wrong one does nothing.
- Get the confirmation. Click all the way to the final screen, then keep the dashboard notice and the email.
- Check the next statement. If a charge lands after your cancel date, you have solid grounds to dispute the credit card charge.
What if Sling charges you after you cancelled?
It happens, usually because the cancellation did not finish (you stopped at the Pause offer), someone restarted the account, or an app store kept billing. Move in this order:
- Confirm where the charge came from. Check the statement description. If it reads Apple, Google, Roku, or Amazon, the fix is on their side, not Sling's.
- Ask for a refund in writing. Contact Sling (or the store) and say you cancelled before the renewal date. Attach your confirmation email or screenshot. Keep it short and dated. If they stall, here is what to do when a company won't refund you.
- Dispute the charge with your card. If they refuse, contact your card issuer.
- Escalate. If a company is blocking cancellation, you can file a complaint with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
Illustrative example: Sling renews at $45.99 the day after you thought you cancelled, your confirmation email shows the earlier cancel date, and your card issuer reverses the charge. Illustrative example. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
What are your rights when a subscription charges you anyway?
- Credit card billing errors: dispute in writing within 60 days. Under the federal Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute a billing error in writing within 60 days of the statement that shows it. The issuer must acknowledge your dispute, generally within 30 days, and resolve it, usually within two billing cycles.
- Chargebacks. Your card network may let you request a chargeback for a charge after a cancellation. Not sure which fits? Here is chargeback vs refund explained.
- Auto-renew rules are in flux in 2026. The FTC's "click to cancel" rule was vacated by a federal appeals court in July 2025, and the FTC moved to restart rulemaking on negative-option plans in 2026. Many states still have their own auto-renewal laws requiring clear disclosure and an easy way to cancel. Verify current terms on Sling's site.

Common questions
How do I cancel my Sling TV subscription?
Sign in at sling.com, click your name in the top right, open Account, and click the small Cancel Subscription link under your plan. Skip the Pause offer, then click through to a confirmation that your plan will not renew. If an app store bills you, cancel through them instead.
Will I still get charged if I cancel Sling TV?
Not if you cancel before your next billing date. Sling does not refund partial months, so cancel a little early. You keep watching until the current billing period ends, then it stops.
Do I lose access to Sling right away when I cancel?
No. You keep streaming until your account cancels automatically at the end of your current billing cycle. You are not charged again after that.
What is the difference between Pause and Cancel on Sling?
Pause stops billing for a stretch you choose, usually one to three months, and then can resume and charge you again on its own. Cancel ends the subscription so it does not renew. If you are done for good, cancel, do not pause.
Why can't I cancel Sling from my TV or Roku?
Streaming device apps are view-only for billing. And if Apple, Google, Roku, or Amazon bills you, Sling cannot cancel it. Cancel on sling.com in a browser, or through that store's subscription settings.
Sling charged me after I cancelled. Can I get my money back?
Sometimes. Confirm which biller charged you, ask them for a refund in writing with your cancellation confirmation, and if they refuse and you used a card, dispute the billing error within 60 days of the statement. Results vary and are not guaranteed.
